What is a blog?

First of all, a blog is a website. To be clear, though, a Weblog is a type of a Web Site. It then follows that all Weblogs are Web Sites. However, not all Web sites are Weblogs.

What then is a blog? This is the greatest question before walking really far from here. And if you still got into this point reading this article, you might be asking the same question. I have been searching and the Internet since I started my site to define what a blog really is? So, are you still interested?

Let us first look at some definitions from other more knowledgeable people to enlighten us.

A blog is a type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom. – problogger.net

A blog – a contraction of the term “web log” – is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. – wikipedia.org

A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world.Your blog is whatever you want it to be. There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules. – blogger.com

“Blog” is an abbreviated version of “weblog,” which is a term used to describe web sites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. A blog is a frequently updated, personal website featuring diary-type commentary and links to articles on other Web sites. Blogs range from the personal to the political, and can focus on one narrow subject or a whole range of subjects. – wordpress.org

A blog is basically a type of website, like a forum or a social bookmarking site. As such it is defined by the technical aspects and features around it, and not by the content published inside it. – dailyblogtips.com

A blog (also called a weblog or web log) is a website consisting of entries (also called posts) appearing in reverse chronological order with the most recent entry appearing first (similar in format to a daily journal). Blogs typically include features such as comments and links to increase user interactivity. Blogs are created using specific publishing software. – about.com

After all of these being said, what is a blog? I want to give my personal definition in this way.
A blog is a collection of thoughts presented as a post or an article arranged in a chronological order. Maintained by an individual or a group of people with a common topic or a collaborative discussion through articles and comments. A blog is similar to a daily journal, forum or a social bookmarking site. It can range from a personal site to a political, sports, news and many more subject. – PROBLOGGER Philippines
